Sean and I had been planning a New Year's Eve double-date with my best friend and her husband...until I got this text from her at 9:30 am on New Year's Eve:
D'oh. Of course, I felt SO bad that she and her husband were BOTH sick, I couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. We were going to go out in their town and crash in their guest bedroom. I had already bought sangria. I was going to bring Apples to Apples (wiki is the best). What were we going to do now?!
Well, I should preface this all by saying that luckily, Sean and I agree that New Year's Eve is often overly hyped up. I mean, sure, it's fun to ring in a new year, but it is also just another night and I hate that people try wayyy too hard to have the GREATEST NIGHT EVER and inevitably are let down.
However, I still wanted to have the GREATEST NIGHT EVER. Ahem.
So, after texting around a bit, Sean and I made loose plans with another couple to come over to our place for some drinks, and we would decide what to do from there. We ended up having a great time chatting, then hit the bars a bit before midnight to ring in 2013 with free champagne.
I didn't stay up tooo late...we were in bed by 2am, which is considerably earlier than some of my wilder past New Year's Eves...I guess I am getting older.
Chill nights with friends are where it's at, these days :-)
And of course, any night with this guy is sure to be incredible.
Happy 2013, friends.
I'll be back a bit later with a post about goals (or my lack thereof).
So sorry to hear about your sweet friends being under the weather, but I'm glad the two of you were able to get out with another couple & welcome in the New Year with fun & drinks <3
